Ceuta: Eleven Moroccan nationals expelled after military ambush
The Ceuta Criminal Court has ordered the expulsion of eleven Moroccan nationals following a pre-planned ambush against a Spanish military patrol in the Benzú area. The individuals accepted a two-year prison sentence, which was substituted with immediate expulsion and a five-year ban from entering Spain. During the initial attack, four soldiers were injured when a group of approximately 30 to 40 individuals pelted their unarmored vehicle with large stones. A twelfth detainee, who denied involvement and rejected the plea agreement, remains in provisional custody pending trial.
In a separate but related incident occurring in the Foso Real area, a second stone-throwing attack targeted military personnel. This second assault resulted in a sergeant sustaining minor injuries and led to the detention of four individuals, including one minor. Security forces, including the Guardia Civil's Rural Security Group, intervened to apprehend the suspects. These consecutive attacks have raised concerns regarding the security of unarmed military patrols in the autonomous city.
