Ceuta migrant crisis marked by organized social‑media assaults and violent incidents

A tech startup based in Alicante, Golden Owl, released an OSINT report showing that a coordinated social‑media campaign called “Asalto Karyaj a Ceuta” was used to organize border assaults between 24 and 31 July. The analysis identified 25 Facebook accounts from Mediterranean countries that promoted the attacks and announced a follow‑up call for 15 August, describing the operation as horizontally structured and resilient to takedowns.

In separate incidents, a migrant wielding a machete approached a National Police officer in the Díaz Flor pavilion area, forcing the officer to fire warning shots. The suspect fled toward the sea, was pursued by police and divers, and was subsequently detained.

A Red Cross vendor was also attacked on the Cuesta Parisiana in Ceuta by four Moroccan migrants who attempted to steal her bag, causing physical injuries and lasting psychological trauma. The victim reported that emergency medical services could not be reached for hours because the local hospital was overwhelmed by the migration surge.
