Ceuta migrant crisis prompts Cuatro's “Horizonte” special

Cuatro replaced the planned prime‑time showing of "Spider‑Man: No Way Home" on 31 July with a special edition of its flagship programme Horizonte, titled "Horizonte: crisis en la frontera". The broadcast began at 22:00 and was presented by Iker Jiménez and Carmen Porter, who interrupted their holidays to host the show.

The special focused on the sudden surge of illegal migrants from Morocco that entered the Spanish autonomous city of Ceuta – more than 60,000 people in 24 hours, roughly 72 % of the city’s population – and a smaller influx of about 400 in nearby Melilla. Authorities suspended local festivals and the city’s commercial activity was halted for security reasons, though some migrants began voluntary returns to Morocco the following morning.

The decision to bring back the veteran hosts underscores the programme’s high audience figures, regularly achieving double‑digit share ratings, and reflects Mediaset’s emphasis on covering urgent border‑related news.
