Ceuta police union seeks meeting with President over security concerns

The Sindicato Unificado de Policía (SUP) has formally requested an urgent meeting with Juan Jesús Vivas, the President of Ceuta, to address critical security and operational issues in the city. The union is seeking institutional mediation following what it describes as a refusal by the Government Delegation in Ceuta, led by Miguel Ángel Pérez Triano, to meet with police unions and representatives.

The SUP reports that law enforcement officers are facing intense operational pressure across several departments, including Public Security, Immigration, Forensic Police, and Intelligence. This pressure stems from the recent mass migration crisis and the ongoing need to manage its consequences. Additionally, the union highlighted concerns regarding the working conditions of both local officers and those temporarily deployed from mainland Spain to reinforce the city.

To address these challenges, the union is demanding a more stable workforce, improved material resources, the reinforcement of heavily affected units, and the implementation of a permanent, comprehensive security plan for Ceuta. The SUP clarified that while security competencies belong to the central government, the request to the regional presidency is intended to break the current lack of communication and dialogue.
