Ceuta political landscape shifts as PSOE faces major polling decline

A recent SigmaDos poll for El Mundo indicates a significant political shift in Ceuta, where the PSOE has seen a 15-point drop in voter intention. The survey suggests the party could fall from 21% in 2023 to just 5.6% in a current hypothetical election, potentially leaving it with only one seat. In contrast, the PP is projected to reach 50.5% of the vote, which would grant it an absolute majority of 13 or 14 seats.

Juan Jesús Vivas, the current president of Ceuta, is highly valued by voters, receiving an 8/10 rating. Notably, 58.2% of PSOE voters expressed a preference for Vivas over the current Government Delegate, Miguel Ángel Pérez Triano. The polling also reflects widespread dissatisfaction with the central government under Pedro Sánchez, with 68.6% of Ceuta residents expressing no confidence in the Executive to resolve the ongoing migration crisis.

These regional developments have intensified the national debate regarding the stability of Pedro Sánchez’s government and the potential for early general elections. While the current legislature could last until 2027, the erosion of support for the PSOE and its partners has raised questions about the government's ability to maintain its parliamentary majority and manage future crises.
