Ceuta professors and Madrid President demand action on Morocco relations

University professors from Ceuta have called upon the University of Granada to sever ties with Morocco, similar to the university's actions regarding Israel following the October 7 attacks. The group has also requested the revocation of the Honorary Doctorate previously awarded to Moroccan King Mohamed VI in 2000. Additionally, the professors urged the university to increase its academic and physical presence in Ceuta to support the city following the recent migration crisis and to explicitly affirm Ceuta and Melilla's status as Spanish territory on its social media platforms.

In a separate political development, the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, criticized Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez regarding the management of the migration situation in Ceuta. Ayuso characterized the events in the autonomous city as an 'invasion' that threatens national sovereignty. She accused the central government of complicity and passivity toward Morocco, alleging that the administration ignored prior warnings and failed to defend Spanish territorial integrity.
