Ceuta: PSOE condemns far‑right activists amid migration‑driven tension
The Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) in Ceuta issued a statement on Saturday denouncing the arrival of far‑right activists, including members of the extremist group Núcleo Nacional and Alvise Pérez. The party said the visit turned the city into a "political provocation scenario" and was "deeply irresponsible" given the recent massive influx of migrants from Morocco that has strained public services and security forces.
The activists' presence sparked protests in the Plaza de los Reyes, with demonstrators chanting "Ceuta unida, jamás será vencida". Police and other security forces intervened to restore order, an action the PSOE praised as exemplary. The party warned that using Ceuta as a stage for political confrontation adds unnecessary tension to a community already dealing with migration pressures.
