Lucio Dalla biopic begins filming in Bologna and Sorrento

Filming has commenced in Bologna and will continue in Sorrento for ‘Lucio’, a television biopic chronicling the life and career of the late Bolognese singer-songwriter Lucio Dalla. Directed by Ambrogio Lo Giudice, the project is a collaboration between Compagnia Leone Cinematografica and Rai Fiction, with support from the Emilia-Romagna Film Commission and the Ministry of Culture.

Valentino Aquilano stars as Lucio Dalla, portraying the artist's journey from a young clarinetist to an iconic singer-songwriter. The cast includes Giovanna Mezzogiorno as Dalla's mother, Iole, and Tredici Pietro as a young Gianni Morandi. Other notable cast members include Gabriele Falsetta as Gino Paoli and Stefano Fregni as producer Renzo Cremonini.

The film aims to explore the personal dimensions of Dalla's life, including his upbringing without a father and the musical mentorships that shaped his career, spanning approximately thirteen years of his formative period.
