Cezar Crețu wins first ATP Challenger title in Augsburg

Romanian tennis player Cezar Crețu won his first ATP Challenger title at the tournament in Augsburg, Germany. The 25-year-old, ranked 289th in the world, defeated Argentina's Facundo Mena in the final with a score of 6-2, 6-0. For this victory, Crețu earned 8,550 euros and 50 ATP points. He is coached by Victor Hănescu and Dave De Haan.

In canoe sprint action at the World Championships in Poznan, Poland, Romanian athlete Ilie Sprîncean finished sixth in the men's C-1 200m final with a time of 41.80 seconds. The gold medal in that event went to Poland's Oleksii Koliadych.
