Cezinha de Madureira investigation involves brother-in-law of STF Minister

José Nagliatti, the brother-in-law of Supreme Federal Court (STF) Minister André Mendonça, has been working in the office of Federal Deputy Cezinha de Madureira since March 2023. Nagliatti serves as a parliamentary secretary and driver, receiving a net monthly salary of R$ 1.7 thousand plus R$ 1.8 thousand in allowances.

Deputy Cezinha de Madureira is currently the target of a Federal Police operation investigating alleged influence peddling, corruption, and money laundering. The investigation, authorized by STF Minister Flávio Dino, examines suspicions that the deputy used his political position to suggest he possessed influence over members of superior courts regarding judicial processes.

Cezinha is noted for his political proximity to Minister Mendonça, having acted as an electoral supporter during the minister's Senate confirmation process. When contacted, Mendonça's press office stated that the minister would not comment on the employment of his brother-in-law.
