CF Montreal hosts Atlanta United in critical Eastern Conference battle

CF Montreal and Atlanta United are set to face each other at Stade Saputo in a critical Eastern Conference matchup. Both teams are currently struggling near the bottom of the standings, with Montreal fighting to avoid finishing last in the conference and Atlanta United sitting just three points above them.

Montreal enters the match following a late 2-1 defeat to Toronto FC. The team faces significant roster concerns, including the potential absence of striker Prince Owusu due to a knee issue, as well as doubts surrounding defender Jalen Neal and Brayan Ceballos. Goalkeeper Thomas Gillier and Bode Hidalgo are also unavailable.

Atlanta United arrives in Quebec after a 3-1 home loss to FC Cincinnati. While Atlanta possesses strong attacking talent, they have struggled to make significant progress this season under head coach Gerardo Martino. Historically, Atlanta has held the advantage in this fixture, winning five of the last ten meetings.
