CFE launches major transmission line in Baja California

The Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) has completed and operationalized the Wisteria 93930-Herradura transmission line in Baja California. This 135-kilometer, 230-kilovolt infrastructure project connects the municipalities of Mexicali and Tecate.

According to the state-owned utility, this is one of the most significant transmission projects in the region in 33 years. The line consists of 429 steel structures and is designed to increase electricity transport capacity and strengthen supply reliability in northwest Mexico, addressing rising demand from industrial, commercial, and population growth.

The project benefited from the work of approximately 1,500 workers from CFE and various contractors, including the Mexican high-voltage infrastructure company Aselco. The new line is expected to benefit more than 1.2 million residents in the state.
