CFIA and Walmart Recall Pistachio Products Over Salmonella

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a recall of Kehar brand Californian pistachio kernels sold in British Columbia and Alberta after testing indicated possible Salmonella contamination. The affected 200 g and 170 g packages carry a best‑before date of December 2027; no illnesses have been reported, but the agency warned that vulnerable groups such as children, pregnant women, the elderly and immunocompromised individuals could face severe infection.

In the United States, Boticelli Foods recalled one lot of Bettergoods pistachio nut butter distributed exclusively through Walmart stores in 19 states after the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services detected Salmonella in routine testing. The 6.7‑oz glass jars (Lot Code LB028ACP04, expiration January 28 2027) are being removed from shelves; no injuries or illnesses have been linked to the product so far. Consumers are advised not to consume the recalled items and to return or discard them.
