CFL fines Mathieu Betts for conduct during Lions-Alouettes game

The Canadian Football League has issued supplemental fines to B.C. Lions defensive end Mathieu Betts following a Week 15 matchup against the Montreal Alouettes. Betts received two separate financial penalties: one for unnecessary roughness against Montreal quarterback Davis Alexander and another for striking offensive lineman Cyrille Hogan-Saindon.

The incident involving Alexander occurred late in the second quarter and resulted in a horsecollar tackle penalty upon review. Betts has denied malicious intent regarding the play. The altercation with Hogan-Saindon took place in the fourth quarter and led to Betts' automatic disqualification. He is among seven individuals disciplined by the league following the game.
