Calgary Stampeders defeat Ottawa Redblacks 40-38 via last-second field goal
The Calgary Stampeders secured a dramatic 40-38 victory over the Ottawa Redblacks at McMahon Stadium, driven by a career-long 62-yard field goal from Rene Paredes with just two seconds remaining in the game.
Despite the loss, Ottawa quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson delivered a strong performance in his first start of the season, throwing for 379 yards and five touchdowns. However, the defeat marks Ottawa's 13th consecutive loss, making them only the second team in CFL history to start a season with such a streak.
Calgary's offense featured rushing touchdowns from Quincy Vaughn and touchdown passes to Tevin Jones and Jalen Philpot. The win keeps the Stampeders in the playoff conversation, even as they remain in last place in the West Division with a 6-8 record.
