CFR Călători owes 121 million lei to SCRL Brașov

CFR Călători owes approximately 121 million lei to SCRL Brașov, a locomotive repair company in which it is the majority shareholder. Reports indicate that by not paying these debts, CFR Călători is able to redirect financial resources toward other immediate expenditures, such as salaries, while simultaneously increasing the risk of insolvency for SCRL Brașov.

SCRL Brașov recently emerged from insolvency and faces its own obligations, including roughly 180 million lei owed to the state. The debt from CFR Călători represents 99.18% of SCRL's total receivables. The situation is complicated by overlapping leadership, as several CFR Călători executives, including General Director Traian Preoteasa, also hold positions on the SCRL Brașov Board of Directors.
