CFR Cluj faces nearly 1 million euros in debts amid insolvency

CFR Cluj is facing significant financial difficulties following its re-entry into insolvency on August 20. Court documents filed by the judicial administrator, RTZ & Partners, reveal that the club faces nearly 1 million euros in outstanding debts across five separate FIFA cases.

The administrator warned of an “imminent risk of the sanction of a ban on transferring football players” being applied. The largest individual claims include 612,666.63 euros owed to goalkeeper Alessandro Micai, 204,949.38 euros plus interest to Stipe Juric, and 161,867 euros plus interest to Drilon Islami. Other creditors include Beni Jean-Luc Nkololo and the agency Lian Sports Limited.

While the club managed to lift a previous transfer ban in early September through a court order to facilitate urgent payments before the transfer window closed, it currently remains under four FIFA transfer bans.
