CFR Cluj hires Portuguese coach Antonio Folha

Club owner Nelu Varga announced that CFR Cluj has appointed Portuguese manager Antonio Folha as head coach. Folha, 55, previously led Porto B and Portimonense and will arrive on Saturday (June 13, 2026) together with a Portuguese coaching staff.

The contract includes a monthly salary of €17,000. The hiring comes after unsuccessful negotiations with former Romania national team coach Edi Iordănescu, who Varga said repeatedly postponed discussions. Iordănescu is now reportedly being considered by Polish Ekstraklasa side Radomiak Random. The appointment is seen as a move to stabilise the club amid ongoing financial challenges.
