CFR Cluj implements salary cuts amid insolvency
CFR Cluj is navigating a delicate financial period following its entry into insolvency. To stabilize the club, management has implemented significant salary reductions, with estimates suggesting a 20-30% decrease in the total salary fund.
Răzvan Zăvăleanu, representing the judicial administrator, stated that most players have agreed to these negotiations. While one player, Andrei Cordea, reportedly did not agree to the reduction, mass dismissals are not expected. The club is aiming for a model of self-sustainability within one year, supported by TV rights and sponsorship revenue.
Club owner Nelu Varga is reportedly planning a payment structure to address outstanding arrears, which in some cases have reached five months. This plan appears to prioritize Romanian players and young talents with high resale potential, while foreign players may face longer waits for payments.
