CFR Cluj owners announce capital infusion to resolve insolvency

Owners of the Romanian football club CFR Cluj, Ioan Varga and Neluțu Varga, have announced plans to stabilize the club's finances and pursue long-term competitive goals despite its current insolvency status.

Ioan Varga stated his intention to provide a capital infusion by winter to pay off all outstanding debts. His strategic vision involves building a more sustainable squad by focusing on young players, with a goal of qualifying for the Champions League. He aims to limit the number of experienced players to a small core to ensure the club can eventually become self-sustaining.

Neluțu Varga addressed the club's financial challenges, noting that high salaries and lack of oversight during his time abroad contributed to significant expenses. He promised stricter monitoring of all expenditures, including transfers, accommodation, and travel, to prevent future mismanagement. He expects the current financial situation to be resolved between December and January, marking the start of a new era for the club.
