CFTC to host forum on AI agents and derivatives markets
The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) will hold its first ‘Frontier Forum’ on the 28th to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence and autonomous trading agents on derivatives markets. The forum, organized by the CFTC Innovation Task Force, aims to examine how superintelligence (SI) systems might alter price discovery, risk management, and market operations.
A key focus of the discussion will be how autonomous AI agents, which can execute trades on behalf of users, interact with existing market infrastructure and whether current regulatory frameworks can be applied to their activities.
Industry leaders from companies including Ornn, Architect, Liquid Compute, and Hedera are scheduled to participate. While the forum explores these technological shifts, the CFTC has noted that the event is intended for discussion rather than the immediate announcement of new regulations or official government positions.
