CG Power starts transformer production at new Sehore facility

CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd. has commenced production at its new greenfield transformer manufacturing facility in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh. The 50-acre site is India’s largest single-location facility for power transformers, capable of producing 220 kV to 1200 kV class units with a monthly capacity of 35 transformers.

The facility rollout was attended by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, who noted the plant's potential to create over 2,000 direct and indirect jobs. This development aligns with national goals to strengthen high-voltage transmission capabilities and support India’s transition toward power sufficiency.

This expansion occurs amid a broader surge in India’s power infrastructure investment. Projections indicate approximately ₹3.74 lakh crore in power infrastructure capital expenditure by FY27E. This investment climate is driving demand for transmission and distribution (T&D) equipment, benefiting major players such as Siemens Energy, Hitachi Energy, and CG Power through increased order flows and margin expansions driven by operating leverage.
