CGE launches preventive electricity plan for O'Higgins and Valparaíso regions amid heavy rain

The Compañía General de Electricidad (CGE) activated a preventive operations plan in response to forecasted intense rain and wind from a frontal system affecting central Chile. In the O’Higgins region, the plan covers 33 communes and includes deployment of emergency and electro‑dependent client brigades, inspection and pruning teams, reconstruction crews, mobile units for home assistance, and reinforcement of operation centers. CGE also set up dedicated work tables to coordinate with regional, municipal and local authorities and provided a special phone line (800 203 180) for electro‑dependent customers.

A similar plan was implemented for the Valparaíso region, where more than 140,000 customers in 12 communes could be impacted. Resources were increased up to seven‑fold, with additional heavy‑duty reconstruction brigades, mobile assistance units, and expanded operation centers. CGE will proactively contact registered electro‑dependent clients and maintain a 24‑hour contact line (800 800 767) and WhatsApp (+569 895 68 479) for reporting outages and emergencies.
