Cégeps de Drummond and Victoriaville demand election commitments

The administrations of Cégep de Drummond and Cégep de Victoriaville have announced a joint initiative to demand concrete commitments from political candidates ahead of the 2026 elections. The leadership of both institutions intends to meet with candidates across several constituencies in the Centre-du-Québec region, including Drummond–Bois-Francs, Marie-Lacoste-Gérin-Lajoie, Arthabaska–L’Érable, and Nicolet–Bécancour.

Key issues to be addressed during these discussions include accessibility to higher education, the availability of technical programs, public transportation, student housing, and the predictability of funding for colleges, continuing education, and collegiate research.

Denis Deschamps, Director General of Cégep de Victoriaville, emphasized that colleges serve as vital levers for knowledge development, workforce training, and the socioeconomic vitality of their communities. Pierre Leblanc, Director General of Cégep de Drummond, noted that the electoral period provides a unique opportunity to place higher education at the center of political discourse.
