CGT union alerts to crisis for Nice Métropole employees

The CGT Nice Métropole Côte d’Azur union has raised alarms regarding the working conditions of between 12,000 and 14,000 territorial employees following the election of a new municipal council led by Éric Ciotti.

Union representatives report a drastic organizational restructuring, noting that the number of departments has been reduced from 140 to approximately 40. This shift has reportedly created significant administrative confusion due to numerous vacant positions and the use of interim directors. The union expressed concerns over potential job cuts, particularly for contract workers, and noted that organizational insecurity is causing spontaneous staff departures.

Financially, the union claims that wage negotiations initiated under the previous administration have been stalled for seven months. Additionally, the reorganization has led to a reduction in indemnity regimes for managers with diminished responsibilities. The local authority has cited a goal of achieving 60 million euros in budget savings and tighter management as justifications for these changes.
