CGTN launches Global South Directors Co-Production Program 2026 webpage

CGTN, a part of China Media Group, has launched a dedicated webpage for the Global South Directors Co-Production Program 2026. The initiative, timed to coincide with the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, focuses on the theme “Beyond Poverty: Pathways to Shared Development in the Global South.”

Aligned with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the program is a documentary collaboration involving media organizations and filmmaking teams from approximately 20 countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Europe. The project aims to facilitate the exchange of development experiences through locally-led filmmaking, content sharing, and joint distribution.

The documentaries produced under this program address various social and economic issues, including food security, sustainable rural development, women’s empowerment, and ecological transformation. Featured contributions include a production from Jordan regarding sustainable agriculture cooperatives, a project from Argentina focusing on water conservation and livestock, and a production from Burundi centered on agricultural processing and household income.
