The service aims to provide concise briefings by distilling information from multiple real-time reports to reduce repetition and offer diverse perspectives on developing stories.

News Pal includes a chat feature that allows users to ask follow-up questions. To ensure accuracy, the system identifies relevant reports and grounds its responses in specific article content rather than relying exclusively on a large language model’s internal knowledge. Users can also access links to original reports for verification. This launch is part of CGTN’s broader integration of AI technologies, which includes script translation, audio news generation, and personalized briefings.
