Chacabuco inaugurates specialized obesity and diabetes center

Mayor Darío Golía has inaugurated the Center for Obesity, Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Nutrition at the Nuestra Señora del Carmen Municipal Hospital in Chacabuco. The new facility aims to centralize care and strengthen prevention and treatment by providing an interdisciplinary team of over 20 professionals, including specialists in obesity, diabetes, endocrinology, nephrology, nutrition, podiatry, social work, and nursing. The center will operate Monday through Friday.

During the inauguration, Golía highlighted ongoing investments in the municipal hospital's infrastructure, including electrical system upgrades, the addition of hemodynamics services, and the replacement of the CT scanner and MRI machine. Additional investments include a new ambulance and approximately $50,000 for the hospital's laundry facility.

The event also included a commemorative tribute to the family of Dr. Susana Jaqueline Viviers, who completed her residency at the hospital and practiced in Chacabuco until her death in 2023.
