Chacabuco Municipality launches construction regularization plan
The Municipality of Chacabuco has launched a 180-day regularization plan for constructions and expansions that were completed without official municipal declaration. The initiative offers significant discounts on fines, reaching up to 100% depending on the property type and surface area.
For residential properties, fines are waived entirely for areas up to 70 square meters, with 75% discounts for areas between 70 and 150 square meters, and 50% for larger structures. Commercial properties receive 100% discounts up to 70 square meters and 75% up to 300 square meters. Non-profit institutions, such as schools, clubs, and religious centers, are eligible for a 100% fine waiver.
Additionally, homes and businesses under 150 square meters with constructions older than ten years may qualify for an extra 25% discount. While the discounts apply to fines, construction rights can be paid in up to 18 installments via automatic debit with a 2% monthly interest rate. To participate, owners must prove the construction is finished, safe, and compliant with local zoning laws through a professional such as an architect or engineer.
