Chacao Mayor visits U.S. Congress to seek earthquake recovery support

Gustavo Duque, the mayor of Chacao, visited Washington, D.C., to deliver formal letters of appreciation to members of the United States Congress. This gesture follows a recent visit by U.S. lawmakers and the Chargé d'Affaires to the Venezuelan municipality to inspect the damage caused by earthquakes on June 24.

Duque stated that the congressional delegation expressed a willingness to assist in the recovery efforts of the region. The mayor is focusing his international agenda on securing resources and multilateral alliances to repair physical infrastructure and support vulnerable populations. A primary goal of these diplomatic efforts is to address housing contingencies for residents displaced by the seismic events, aiming to facilitate a dignified return to their homes.
