Chacao Municipality opens nominations for 2026 Film Award
The Chacao Mayor's Office and the Chacao Municipal Council have officially opened the nomination process for the 2026 Chacao Municipal Film Award. From September 16 to October 31, filmmakers, producers, and audiovisual creators from across Venezuela are invited to submit their works.
The award recognizes excellence in more than 20 categories, including feature films, short films, documentaries, and technical specialties. The ceremony is traditionally held in late January to coincide with National Venezuelan Cinema Day. This edition features strategic support from Cultura Chacao, Centro Cultural Chacao, Gran Cine, and the Academy of Cinematic Sciences and Arts of Venezuela.
Managed by Councilman Oscar González F., the initiative has seen a 20% growth in nominations in recent editions, with the most recent cycle reaching over 140 entries. Mayor Gustavo Duque stated that the award serves as a fundamental window to exalt the creativity, identity, and cultural resistance of the country.
