Paraguay secures over USD 1 billion in investment opportunities from New York mission
Paraguay's government has announced that a recent business mission to New York has secured investment opportunities exceeding USD 1 billion. Led by President Santiago Peña and accompanied by a delegation of approximately 60 entrepreneurs, the mission focused on presenting over 30 mature projects to international financial institutions, including Bank of America and J.P. Morgan.
Key investment highlights include a USD 700 million project for an event arena on the Costanera Norte in Asunción and a USD 200 million investment from J.P. Morgan specifically targeting the Paraguayan forestry sector. The latter marks the firm's first foray into forestry investments outside of Australia, New Zealand, and the United States.
Other strategic developments include interest from the California-based investment fund Plug and Play and an initiative with Apolitical to provide artificial intelligence training for over 100,000 public officials. Minister of Industry and Commerce Marcos Riquelme noted that while these projects represent significant potential, many are in various stages of negotiation and may take one to two years to reach full execution.
