Chaco Ministry of Health launches chronic disease prevention in Nueva Pompeya
The Ministry of Health of Chaco, led by Minister Ricardo Mayol, conducted a territorial health operation in Misión Nueva Pompeya as part of the ‘Proyecto Dulce Mowico’. The initiative aims to strengthen the prevention, early detection, monitoring, and comprehensive care of non-communicable chronic diseases, specifically targeting diabetes, hypertension, and obesity.
Health teams implemented an integrated approach through home visits, community data updates, and physical assessments including weight, height, blood pressure, and glucose levels. The operation also included blood extractions and specialized screenings, such as retinography and diabetic foot exams, to identify potential complications early. Patients with high blood pressure or glucose levels were referred to reference hospitals for more complex evaluations.
In addition to direct patient care, the program provided training for health promoters and nurses in Misión Nueva Pompeya and surrounding areas to improve local capacity for managing chronic diseases.
