Chad and Central African Republic officials meet to address border conflicts

Sub-prefects from the Logone Oriental region of Chad and the Yadé region of the Central African Republic are meeting in Mbaïbokoum, Chad, to address recurring community conflicts along their shared border.

Supported by the NGO Concordis International, the conference focuses on the prevention and management of conflicts related to transhumance. These disputes often involve herders from West Africa, Central Africa, and Cameroon searching for pasture. The meeting aims to establish a leadership core and specific strategies to manage agro-pastoral disputes, land litigation, cross-border crime, and the uncontrolled movement of people and livestock.

Local officials emphasized that the gathering is intended to strengthen cross-border cooperation, dialogue, and the search for concerted solutions to security challenges that threaten social cohesion in the border zones.
