Chad celebrates Mawlid at King Faisal Grand Mosque in N’Djamena
The National Council of Islamic Affairs (CNAI) of Chad commemorated the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (Mawlid) on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at the King Faisal Grand Mosque in N’Djamena. The event, which drew significant crowds from the Tidjaniya brotherhood and surrounding areas, focused on the theme “And We have not sent you except as a mercy to the worlds.”
During the ceremony, CNAI President Sheikh Abdoulaye Abdallah Ousmane emphasized that the commemoration serves as an opportunity to renew commitment to values such as peace, justice, and fraternity. He addressed Chad's social and cultural diversity, stating that such plurality should be viewed as a national strength rather than a source of division. He urged religious leaders, intellectuals, and media to promote social cohesion and prevent hate speech.
The festivities included Quranic readings, poems, and prayers. Organizers noted that preparations were finalized to ensure the event proceeded smoothly, calling for discipline among the large number of attendees to maintain order.
