Chad Epperson promoted to Boston Red Sox interim third base coach

Chad Epperson, the former manager of the Portland Sea Dogs, has been promoted to interim third base coach for the Boston Red Sox.

Epperson received the news via a phone call from Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow following the dismissal of manager Alex Cora and several coaches. The promotion moved Epperson directly from the minor leagues to the major leagues, bypassing Triple-A Worcester. Following the announcement, Epperson was arranged to travel via private jet to join the team in Boston.
