Chad le Clos raises funds for neighbors after Sea Point fire

South African swimmer Chad le Clos, who recently became the most decorated athlete in Commonwealth Games history, is raising funds for neighbors following a devastating fire at his apartment building, The Dorchester, in Sea Point.

The blaze, which occurred on July 30, destroyed several top-floor apartments and displaced dozens of residents. Tragically, the fire claimed the life of 93-year-old neighbor Sam Strime.

Through the Chad le Clos Foundation, the athlete has launched a dedicated fundraising campaign to assist affected neighbors with the rebuilding process. Le Clos expressed his condolences and solidarity with the tight-knit community, noting that 100 percent of donations will go directly to those impacted by the tragedy.
