Chad Minister urges citizens to support local artisans

During the National Day for the Promotion of Craftsmanship, Chad’s Minister of Tourism Development, Culture, and Craftsmanship, Abakar Rozzi Teguil, called on citizens to prioritize local products under the slogan ‘Buy Chadian.’

Speaking in N’Djamena, the minister emphasized that the artisanal sector is not merely a cultural heritage to be preserved but a significant economic driver. He noted that the industry creates jobs, particularly for women and youth, and supports local development through the production of leather, clay, wood, textiles, and metalwork.

Minister Teguil advocated for the ‘Made in Chad’ label to serve as a mark of quality and authenticity in both domestic and international markets. He stressed that for development policies to succeed, Chadians must become the primary customers of their own artisans, noting that local spending directly supports Chadian families and businesses.
