France launches youth employment foundation through sports
In France, a new alliance between the CNOSF, France Travail, and MEDEF has established the Fondation Insertion – Jeunes par le Sport. Hosted by the Fondation du Sport Français, the initiative aims to support 100,000 young people in finding employment or vocational training by 2030. The project targets the NEET population—those not in employment, education, or training—by leveraging the soft skills developed through sports, such as discipline and teamwork.
Concurrently, the French government is increasing support for local authorities facing climate and geological challenges. A new decree has doubled the DSEC (Dotation de solidarité en faveur de l’équipement des collectivités et de leurs groupements) envelope, raising it from 30 million euros in 2025 to 70 million euros in 2026. This includes new eligibility for emergency operating expenses to ensure public safety during such events.
Other regional and national sports developments include the Guadeloupe Departmental Council's mid-term report on its 3 million euro sports policy, and the launch of the 2026 'Sport pour tous' program in Burkina Faso involving various ministries to promote social cohesion through athletics.
