Chad security forces arrest four suspects in Miski attack

Chadian defense and security forces have arrested four individuals suspected of involvement in an attack on a mining detachment in the Miski region of northern Chad. The incident, which occurred on October 14, resulted in the deaths of two military officers and left nine others wounded.

Lieutenant-Colonel Nour Hamad Ahmed So, deputy commander of military operations in the Tibesti region, confirmed the arrests during an interview on October 20. Authorities reported the seizure of ten firearms during the operation, including two rocket launchers and two sniper rifles.

The military attributes the attack to the Miski Indigenous Defense Commission, a local militia active in the gold-rich area. In response to the violence, the military command has issued warnings to the militia to disarm, stating that any refusal will be treated as an act of rebellion. Security operations continue in the Tibesti region to apprehend remaining suspects and restore order.
