Chad Smith celebrates 65th birthday

Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith celebrates his 65th birthday on October 25. Born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Smith began playing the drums at age seven before moving to California to join the Los Angeles music scene.

Smith joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers in March 1989 following an audition that impressed band members Flea and Anthony Kiedis. Since joining, he has performed on ten studio albums, including Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Californication, and By the Way.

His technical skill and funk-rock style have earned him significant industry recognition. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 as a member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and has been ranked among the best rock drummers of all time by publications such as Rolling Stone and Rhythm.
