Chad strengthens social cohesion through new partnerships and community training

In Chad, new initiatives are being launched to strengthen social cohesion and sustainable development through institutional partnerships and community training.

The Economic, Social, Cultural and Environmental Council (CESCE) and the National Union of Civil Society Organizations and Associations of Chad (UNOSCAT) signed a framework agreement on September 8, 2026. The partnership aims to enhance citizen dialogue, peace, and social cohesion by integrating civil society into national development programs. UNOSCAT, which represents over 250 organizations, will act as an interface between the government, the population, and international partners.

Simultaneously, in the Moussafoyo canton, the Association for the Economic and Social Development of the Moussafoyo Sub-Prefecture (ADESPM) has launched a sensitization campaign to secure the upcoming harvest period. Supported by the European Union-funded LAPIA project, the initiative provides training to local leaders in conflict prevention, mediation, and peaceful resolution. The program seeks to mitigate potential tensions between communities during the harvest season by promoting dialogue and mutual respect.
