Chad Tracy's future with Boston Red Sox remains uncertain despite team surge

The Boston Red Sox have experienced a significant turnaround during the 2026 season following the dismissal of manager Alex Cora and several coaching staff members in April. Since interim manager Chad Tracy took over, the team has posted a 61-42 record, transforming from a struggling club into a strong contender for the postseason.

Despite the team's success and Tracy being considered a favorite for the AL Manager of the Year Award, the Red Sox front office has not yet removed his interim status. Reports indicate that while the club has discussed other candidates, Tracy currently holds the edge for the permanent position. However, chief baseball officer Craig Breslow appears to be taking a deliberate approach to the decision, potentially waiting until the conclusion of the season to make a final move.
