Chadian press groups protest costs for France-Chad Forum
Major Chadian press organizations are calling for improved participation conditions for the upcoming France-Chad Business Forum, scheduled for September 25–26, 2026, in Paris.
A joint statement from the Association des Éditeurs de la Presse Privée du Tchad (AEPT), the Union des Radios Privées du Tchad (URPT), the Patronat de la Presse Tchadienne (PPT), and the Association des Médias en Ligne du Tchad (AMET) expresses concern over the financial requirements for media coverage. While the organizations support the forum’s goal of promoting investment and strengthening economic ties between France and Chad, they expressed “profound disappointment” regarding the decision that media outlets must fully cover their own transport, accommodation, and living expenses in Paris.
The press groups argue that these costs pose a significant burden on private media sectors already facing economic difficulties. They warn that such requirements may limit participation to only the most well-funded outlets, potentially resulting in unequal media coverage of the strategic event.
