CHAEVI unveils megawatt charging system for smart ports

CHAEVI, a leading electric vehicle charging infrastructure operator, is showcasing a Megawatt Charging System (MCS) dispenser at the 14th Busan International Port Conference. The equipment is a key component of an autonomous charging system being developed as part of a national project titled ‘Autonomous Driving-based Smart Port Mobility Platform Technology Development’.

The project aims to enable 24-hour autonomous operations in smart ports by integrating AI-driven driving decisions, 70-ton domestic autonomous mobile robots (AMR), and MW-class robot-docking autonomous charging technology. CHAEVI is responsible for developing the MW-class MCS dispenser, its integration with charging robots, and the development and verification of power banks.

By combining MCS-based megawatt charging infrastructure with vision and robot-based automatic docking technology, the initiative seeks to establish a charging system that requires no human intervention. CHAEVI CEO Choi Young-hoon stated that the company is expanding its charging expertise from passenger electric vehicles to the large-scale logistics vehicle sector used in ports to secure competitiveness in the era of autonomous and unmanned operations.
