Chaichanok Chidchob defends TH-AI Passport project amid parliamentary scrutiny

Chaichanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society and Secretary-General of the Bhumjaithai Party, has addressed upcoming parliamentary scrutiny regarding the TH-AI Passport project and allegations of Senate election interference. He stated he is not concerned about potential no-confidence debates, asserting that the TH-AI Passport project complies with all legal regulations and has been adjusted to maximize benefits for the state and citizens.

Regarding the TH-AI Passport, the Minister clarified that his recent absence from a parliamentary committee meeting was due to official duties, noting that he had instructed ministry officials to cooperate fully. He announced that official project details will be released shortly, with registration expected to open on August 19, 2026, and official implementation targeted for August 31, 2026. Eligibility requires participants to be at least 15 years old and undergo identity verification.

Additionally, Chaichanok discussed efforts to combat call center scams, revealing that he personally received a scam call at his ministerial office. He urged the public to remain vigilant against fraud tactics involving fear and greed, noting that ministry efforts have helped reduce such issues by over 50 percent in the past eight months.
