Chaiiwala expands motorway presence and launches lower‑calorie summer menu in the UK

Chaiiwala, the Indian street‑food café chain, opened an express‑format outlet at Sandbach Southbound Services on the M6. The 320 sq ft container café, the first of six planned with Roadchef, doubles the previous Watford Gap setup and offers a full kitchen with wraps, rice bowls, Bombay Toasties and other items. Co‑founder Sohail Alimohamed said the Watford Gap trial proved the concept and gave confidence to expand the partnership with Roadchef.

In parallel, Chaiiwala introduced a limited‑edition summer menu aimed at lower‑calorie, higher‑protein options. All items stay under 400 calories and include Chicken Tikka and Kebab Caesar salads, two avocado toasts (Egg Burji and Butter Chicken), a Badam Milkshake and a Desi Cold Coffee. Co‑founder Sohail Ali said the range meets growing demand for lighter, balanced meals without sacrificing flavour, building on recent Red Bull‑infused mocktails.

Both moves reflect Chaiiwala’s strategy to broaden its UK footprint and diversify its offering for on‑the‑go customers.
