Chainalysis restores services following major cyberattack

Blockchain analysis firm Chainalysis has begun a phased restoration of its Know Your Transaction (KYT) and address-screening products following a multi-front cyberattack. The company previously disclosed that the incident exposed user names, usernames, password hashes, and live tokens for all users.

During the investigation, Chainalysis removed access to several key services, including Reactor and Data Solutions, and took its login page and API offline to mitigate the impact. The firm identified an “on-path attack” as part of the breach and stated that the attack vector has since been addressed.

While user credentials were compromised, Chainalysis reported having no evidence that investigation content was accessed or that its attribution data was manipulated. Customers have been advised to rotate API keys and prepare for password resets. To facilitate the return to service, the company is working with clients to add trusted IP addresses to an allowlist.
