Chainlink partners with Bottomline to connect 600 banks to blockchain payments

Chainlink has entered a strategic partnership with Bottomline Technologies, a top-three provider of SWIFT services, to enable cross-chain and cross-border payments for over 600 banking customers.

Bottomline’s platform processes more than $16 trillion in annual payments. The integration utilizes Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) and Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE) to bridge traditional financial infrastructure with both public and private blockchains. This allows banks to maintain existing ISO 20022 messaging standards while accessing on-chain settlement capabilities.

While the partnership represents a significant expansion of blockchain utility in traditional finance, it currently serves as a proof-of-concept. Bottomline, which is owned by the private equity firm Thoma Bravo, provides payment solutions to over 1 million financial institutions and enterprises globally.
