Chaka Khan musical “I’m Every Woman” opens at London’s Troubadour Wembley Park
The new jukebox musical “I’m Every Woman – The Chaka Khan Musical” held its press night at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre in London. The production celebrates the life and career of singer Chaka Khan, featuring 29 of her hits such as “Ain’t Nobody”, “Higher Love” and the title track. It stars Alexandra Burke as Khan and explores themes of civil‑rights activism, addiction, and the challenges faced by a Black woman in a predominantly white‑male music industry.
The show uses extensive video projection, sliding walls and a sound design that highlights the vocal performances. Chaka Khan attended the event, walking the red carpet in a black leather dress and sunglasses. Guests included BBC Radio 1 DJ Clara Amfo and Olympic gold‑medallist Dame Denise Lewis. The musical traces Khan’s rise from the 1970s funk band Rufus to a solo career that earned ten Grammy Awards.
